Bermuda is a fast growing grass and that is why it is really essential to understand that how much of the grass do you need in your lawn. Essentially Bermuda grass needs proper care so that you don’t end up with a uncontrolled growth which the grass is ill famous for. That is why controlling the growth of the Bermuda grass is equally important.
One of the important step in controlling and maintaining the growth of Bermuda grass is timely mowing. Mowing requirements for Bermuda grass lawns depend on the variety of the grass, its use and the level of maintenance you want to act on. Generally the common Bermuda grass is responsible to produce dense, wear tolerant lawn area when mowed at height of 1inch. If you are looking for the Bermuda grass fro a sports turf or golf course then the lower height will suit the purpose whereas for home lawns the tall height of the grass is usually not a problem. It is seen that at mowing heights above 1inch the Bermuda grass usually develops turf with an average appearance and also with poor wear tolerance. It is recommended that the fine-textured hybrid Bermuda grasses should be mowed at a height of 1 inch or less. Generally the taller mowing height with the Bermuda grass can produce puffy, steemy lawn that can be easily scalped during regular mowing. |
